Raising children is difficult. I have been working with and advising families with young children for over 20 years. Early intervention, whether relating to developmental challenges or mental health issues, is my passion. Different ages and stages of childhood can be very challenging for families who are struggling with other issues. However, there are solutions and strategies that can work for you and your situation.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Sciences (Linguistics and Psychology) from UBC, an Early Childhood Development Certificate from Alberta and a Masters of Counselling degree from the University of Lethbridge. Ongoing professional development training and complementary experience to allow me to offer families practical and meaningful solutions to their parenting concerns.
I have certification with the Canadian Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and am completing supervised certification with the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy.
I am devoted to helping young families – parents and other caregivers, infants, toddlers, preschoolers and elementary school children – learn to love and live together more functionally and peacefully. I use many strategies and techniques, such as play therapy, interaction guidance, infant massage, individual and family counselling and parent coaching to help families get back on track.
I also wish to help other professionals who wish to know more about early intervention and infant mental health. I can provide consultation and workshops for programs, agencies and conferences.
